This weeks online assignment is:

To look through the book and answer the following questions:
1) Which section looks the most interesting?
2) Which section looks the least interesting?
3) Which section do you think will be the hardest?

As a note - I usually won't have specific instructions on the weekly assignment unless it is going to be a complicated online post. This is partly because I will most likely base the online assignment on class discussions, so I will therefore not always know what will be going on here before I type out the assignment sheet.

This weeks online assignment is to look at the attached excel spread sheet. Then, use the following data to plot your own position vs. time graph and attach your file as your response. The goal is to mimic the format of my file, even though the data will be different.

Time(s): 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 22
Position(m): 10, 22, 18, 15, 17, 24, 32

Note: first time goes with first listed position and so on...

Bonus points for Exam 1: Solve the questions below using the method we went over in class today. Scan in your answers and email them to me. If yo do not have a scanner, email me your final answers and I will double check your work on Tuesday.

1. Sally dropped a penny off a building and timed how long it took to reach the ground. She got a final time of 13.2 seconds.
a. how high is the building?
b. how fast is the penny going at t=7.3 seconds?

2. A motorcyclist is driving the Pullman-Moscow highway at 55mph. He sees a deer in the highway 22meters away. If the deceleration of his bike is 13m/s^2, will the bike stop in time?

3. Susie throws a tennis ball straight up in the air. It takes 8.62 seconds to hit the ground again.
a. what was the initial velocity Susie threw the ball at?
b. how long did it take for the ball to reach 0 m/s?
c. How high is the ball at t=4.2 seconds?
